Dodgers Waiting on Podsednik
The Dodgers Tuesday exercised their end of a mutual 2011 option for outfielder Scott Podsednik, who has 48 hours to accept the one-year, $2 million salary or choose free agency. If Podsednik returns to the club, he could become the everyday left fielder, platoon there with Casey Blake if the Dodgers acquire a power-hitting third baseman like Adrian Beltre or become the fourth outfielder if the Dodgers acquire a power-hitting left fielder. Podsednik was acquired from Kansas City for two Minor Leaguers and took over left field for Manny Ramirez, but missed the final three weeks of the season with plantar fasciitis of his right foot, which did not require surgery. – Ken Gurnick
