Dodgers Talking to Padilla

Despite already having five established starting pitchers, the Dodgers are still talking contract with Vicente Padilla, last season’s Opening Day starter. Padilla could be a long reliever, short reliever or swingman to step into the rotation for the inevitable attrition. He earned $5.025 million in 2010 when he went 6-5 with a 4.07 ERA and made only 16 starts because of arm and neck injuries. The Dodgers rotation currently consists of Clayton Kershaw, Chad Billingsley, Ted Lilly, Hiroki Kuroda and Jon Garland. — Ken Gurnick
