Rockies reportedly pursuing Berkman

Having just completed a mega-deal with Troy Tulowitzki, things are apparently quite active in the Rockies. Colorado is “aggressively pursuing” free agent first baseman Lance Berkman, according to the Denver Post.

Berkman has previously expressed that he’d like to play in Denver, which could help the Rockies’ chances considering the veteran is likely to get a higher offer elsewhere, the report suggested.
Berkman’s final destination could come down to what position he’d play in the field. Primarily a first baseman, Berkman does have some outfield experience and could possible play some outfield as well as occasionally spell Todd Helton at first in Colorado, assuming his surgically-repaired knee holds up.
Other teams with reported interest include the Athletics and Cubs.
