Dueling Loney Rumors

Dodgers first baseman James Loney is available, according to FOX Sports, but Yahoo! Sports reports that Loney won’t be traded. Who the Dodgers would play at first base in the event that Loney is traded wasn’t addressed, although the $4 million to $5 million that would be freed up by moving Loney’s anticipated salary could help pay for a first baseman with power. Or they could move Casey Blake to first and acquire a third baseman (Adrian Beltre?). Washington, Milwaukee and the Cubs have asked the Dodgers about Loney’s availability, according to FOX Sports. – Ken Gurnick
