Furcal Trade Official
The Dodgers confirmed Sunday the trade of veteran shortstop Rafael Furcal to the St. Louis Cardinals, officially turning the page on 2011. In return the Cardinals will pay $1.38 million of the remaining $4.8 million of Furcal’s salary and send Double-A outfielder Alex Castellanos to the Dodgers. The move allows the Dodgers to replace Furcal with top shortstop prospect Dee Gordon, who was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque. — Ken Gurnick

It’s about time.
Its good to see that the Cards are trying to better their defense, but how much will Furcal be able to help and will he be able to stay healthy for the rest of the season?
im sure they simply got him for the two months because our shortstop defense is horrible, and anything they get from him offensively is just a bonus. the old furcal hit for average and stole alot of bases, so, anything would help now. i applaud the cardinals for at least trying.
