Kemp, Dodgers Close to Deal
The Dodgers and outfielder Matt Kemp are on the verge of a contract extension that could be announced as soon as today. The deal would be the biggest in Dodgers history, reportedly eight years and $160 million. Kemp is in his final season of arbitration eligibility and would be a free agent after the 2012 season. Kevin Brown’s seven-year, $105 million contract signed in 1988 is the biggest in club history. Kemp is expected to attend a Dodgers Dream Field dedication later today. — Ken Gurnick
