Angels bring back Rodriguez on Minors deal

The Angels previously inked reliever Francisco Rodriguez (not K-Rod) to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training. Rodriguez, the Mexico native who was signed as an amateur free agent by the Angels in 2005, will make $481,000 if he makes the big league club.

The 28-year-old right-hander was designated for assignment this offseason, then slipped through waivers and became a free agent. During his rookie season in 2010, Rodriguez put up a 4.37 ERA and a 1.521 WHIP in 43 appearances. Last season, though, shoulder woes limited him to 13 2/3 innings in the Majors and 10 innings in the Minors.

In seven seasons in the Minors, Rodriguez has gone 25-37 with a 5.27 ERA in 215 games (47 starts).

By looking at MLB & Milb transactions, I don’t see where he was DFA’d or declared Free Agency. All I see is where he was outrighted to Salt Lake (AAA) on 11/17/2011 and then 1/18/2012 an announcement that he was an NRI.

Get ride of the boom he’s no Damn good, spend a little bit more and get some quality pitching

too confusing! how many francisco rodriguez’s are there? I know it’s like Jim Smith, but c’mon…. there aren’t that many Jim Smith’s in MLB….. oh well…. lol

loser – go back to bed.

I hope this guy stays in the minors. Watching him pitch in close game situations is as bad as watching Fernando Rodney. It think it’s a much improved bull pen just not having those two in it.

What are we getting for 500,000?

When this guy is on he can blow major league hitters away. Perhaps a long shot, but worth hanging on to given the price.

bad aquisition

This guy won’t help us at all

I personally want this guy to make the team;so he can prove us all wrong.I have never seen this kid pitch more than one innining. Why did we sign him?
