No change in Ryan Dempster’s status, just the rumors. Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus reports Zach Lee, Allen Webster and Chris Reed are off the table in any talks between the Cubs and Dodgers for Dempster. CBS Sports’ Scott Miller said discussions are “gaining momentum.” However, a Major League source told MLB.com Monday afternoon that nothing has changed in discussions.

Why trade him? At this point the compensation pick you will get in next years draft will probably be as good if not better than what you will get now since the Dodgers know Dempster will only accept a trade to L.A….Keep him and make a push to finish as close to if not above .500 and then offer him a 2 year contract and either he accepts it and your out nothing really or he doesn’t and you get a pick…
