Padres interested in trading pitchers for offense
The Padres are reportedly listening to trade offers for Ian Kennedy, Andrew Cashner and Tyson Ross, according to a tweet from FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.
That report comes just one day after the Padres posted the winning bid for the exclusive negotiating rights with Korean left-hander Kwang-Hyun Kim. A potential deal with Kim provides the Padres with a bit of pitching depth that they would like to flip for some offensive help.
The most logical choice could be to trade Kennedy, who is entering the final season of his contract in 2015. Cashner, meanwhile, is under contract through 2016 and Ross through 2017. Those contracts could be the key to not only which players do or do not get traded, but also what the Padres might get in return.
As for potential trade partners, Rosenthal suggests that the Braves, Cubs, Diamondbacks, Indians, Rangers and Royals could all be possible fits.
