O’s may be interested in A.J. Burnett
The Orioles could be exploring the possibility of signing right-hander A.J. Burnett, though there are conflicting reports on where exactly those talks stand.
From a logistical standpoint, the deal would certainly make sense. First off, Burnett’s offseason home is located in Maryland and his wife does not like to fly, making Baltimore a reasonable fit.
Secondly, Burnett has said after declining a $12.5-million option to return the Phillies that he would like to sign with a contender for the 2015 season. The O’s would again seem to fit that requirement considering they are the defending AL East champions and advanced to the ALCS this past season.
As for the Orioles, they are in the market for pitching, though shoring up the bullpen is believed to be the priority. The two sides don’t seem to be anywhere near a deal at this point, though it is a situation worth monitoring.
