Butler, A’s agree to three-year deal
The Oakland Athletics and free agent Billy Butler have reportedly struck a deal. The news was first reported by Robert Murray of MLBdailyrumors.com and was also later confirmed by ESPN’s Buster Olney.
Butler, 28, is believed to be to signing a three-year, $30 million deal, according to the reports. He would provide the A’s with a right-handed bat and a steady presence as a designated hitter.
The Athletics used 13 players as a DH last season and those players combined to hit .215 with 15 homers and 73 RBI. In 2014, Butler played in 109 games as the Royals DH, hitting .258 with three homers and 44 RBI.
