Report: D-backs and Dodgers discussed Ethier and Montero deal
The D-backs and Dodgers discussed a deal that would have sent catcher Miguel Montero and lower-level prospects to Los Angeles in exchange for outfielder Andre Ethier and catcher Tim Federowicz, according to a FOXsports.com report.
There has been speculation this offseason that the D-backs would deal Montero and the $40 million he is owed over the next three years.
When asked Friday about his thoughts regarding possibly trading Montero, Stewart did not make it sound like he had anything in the works.
“Right now, believe me, you guys have seen how I worked,” Stewart said. “If I was motivated to move him, he’d probably be gone by now. Right now, I’m not motivated to do anything. Like I said, our ownership hasn’t told us that we have to move him. So for today, as far as I can tell you, he’s going to be a part of this team.”
According to the report, the deal did not go through because Arizona ownership declined to approve it and it further said that the revival of the deal was “unlikely.”
