Miley Trade Appears Likely
The D-backs are close to trading left-hander Wade Miley, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports.
While it’s unclear exactly where Miley could be headed, the Red Sox have been in talks with the D-backs. With Boston losing out on the Jon Lester sweepstakes, the team is looking at other options to fill its rotation. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports has also mentioned that the Marlins and Rangers have expressed interest in Miley.
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale has reported that Arizona is trying to trim its payroll to $90 million, which is part of the reason why the team is listening to offers for Miley.
Miley is coming off of a down year, in which he went 8-12 with a 4.34 ERA over 33 starts. However, he went 16-11 with a 3.33 ERA in 2012, finishing second in the National League Rookie of the Year voting.
