Three more teams join Romo pursuit
Updating an earlier item, the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers have all expressed interest in reliever Sergio Romo, according to ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick. The Giants have also had talks about bringing back Romo.
Romo struggled to a 4.74 ERA over 40 first-half outings this past season, but bounced back to notch an impressive 1.80 ERA in 24 outings after the All-Star break.
It’s no surprise that Romo’s market is starting to heat up in the wake of fellow relievers Luke Gregerson and Pat Neshek both reportedly netting deals with the Astros on Wednesday morning. Couple that with top relievers Andrew Miller and David Robertson already being off the board and teams still in need of bullpen help figure to immediately ramp up their pursuit of remaining relievers such as Romo, Francisco Rodriguez and Rafael Soriano.
