Mets sign Parnell, avoid arbitration
The Mets have agreed to terms with right-hander Bobby Parnell on a one-year contract, avoiding arbitration, the club announced on Wednesday.
Parnell appeared in one game last season before undergoing season-ending Tommy John surgery in April. The 30-year-old is 18-24 with a 3.57 ERA and 36 saves in 299 appearances (eight starts) over seven seasons with the Mets.
The Mets have five remaining arbitration-eligible players: Dillon Gee, Daniel Murphy, Lucas Duda, Ruben Tejada and Jenrry Mejia.
